At present, ClearlyMe® is only accessible to people taking part in the MobiliseMe study conducted by the Black Dog Institute.

The app includes a bunch of helpful activities, tips and information based on cognitive-behavioural therapy principles to improve mental health and wellbeing.

ClearlyMe® consists of 37 brief activities based on cognitive behaviour therapy. Activities include the following evidence-based treatment components: psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, behavioural experiments, emotion awareness and acceptance, goal setting, problem solving, behavioural activation, relaxation, mindfulness, and values identification. Activities can be accessed individually via the ‘Activities’ tab, or via a collection of activities that target a specific challenge. For users wanting some guidance, the app includes curated ‘collections’ of activities targeting specific challenges faced by young people. Collections target things such as improving low mood, dealing with negative thoughts and worrying less. Each collection varies in length, but generally take about 20 minutes to complete. To get the most out of the app, it is recommended that at least one collection be completed each week. By going through the collections, users will develop new strategies to support their mental health.

The app also includes stories from those who’ve been there before, mood tracking and quick tips to help in those overwhelming moments. Users are encouraged to practise the activities and return to the app to reflect or access further content as needed.

ClearlyMe® also includes in-app reminders, to support users returning to the app to reengage in content. The ‘saving’ and ‘favourite’ functions allow users to bookmark activities to encourage them to return to activities that they found helpful or resonated with them. The app also includes a ‘Get Help’ section that contains information on when and where to access additional Australian mental health support services.

Please note that ClearlyMe® is currently only accessible to participants taking part in the MobiliseMe study conducted by The Black Dog Institute. This research study has been reviewed and approved by the University of New South Wales Human Research Ethics Committee (Reference no. HC210889).
